CORFU. A van driver parked in one of the two special needs parking spots next to the open-air market today and was spotted by police.

The van didn't have an International Special Needs badge on its windscreen as it was obliged to in order to park  in the space.

On a patrol this morning police found that both the parking spots were occupied but only one of the vehicles displayed the obligatory Special Needs badge. The number plates were immediately removed from the illegal vehicle and cannot be returned before at least two months.

It was a year ago that 11 special needs parking spots were created in Corfu Town.

The spaces are available to anyone who has the International Special Needs badge, which must be displayed on the windscreen of the vehicle.

It is questionable how many members of the public know and/or respect this. Another question is how often the police take action. However, even occasional police measures at least gives us some hope.
