CORFU. The goal is to educate school pupils, increase the number of those recycling and to reward them for their efforts.

The Followgreen public recycling platform (www.followgreen.gr/centralkerkira) 'Let's Recycle' School Marathon began today, Thursday 21 November.

The Marathon is being organised by Central Corfu & Diapontia Islands Municipal Education & Lifelong Education Department and Cleansing Department.along with SYDISA (Solid Waste Management Association). The goal is to educate school pupils, increase the number of those recycling and to reward them as part of the Followgreen initiative.

The Cleansing Services Department organised the distribution of recycling bins to primary schools. Pupils, parents and teachers will be able to recycle paper, plastic, aluminium and batteries - gaing points for the amount of materials they have collected properly.

Parents and teachers will also play a significant role - not only will they provide pupils with recyclable materials from home, but will also be able to support the children's efforts by donating to the school reward points they have collected from the online platform - www.followgreen.gr/centralkerkira/school.

Central Corfu & Diapontia Islands Municipality hopes that the competition will help to educate and raise the awareness not only of pupils, but also parents and guardians so that Corfu can become a model for recycling and proper waste management.
