Separate collection of batteries in Phaeaces district

CORFU. There was a meeting at Phaeaces Municipal Centre on Friday 10 January.
The meeting was part of the Central Corfu & Diapontia Islands Municipality's campaign to increase sorting at source and proper waste management. Attending the meeting were the Presidents of the local councils of Sgourades, Zygos, Sokraki, Spartilla, Agios Markos, Ano Korakiana and Kato Korakiana, to learn about the battery collection that will be implemented in their areas.
According to the Municipality's press release, other such information meetings will be taking place shortly and special spots will be set up to collect batteries.
Mayor Meropi Ydraiou said, "The new Central Corfu & Diapontia Islands Municipality aims to fulfil the responsibility it took on to overcome the waste management problem once and for all. We will use all the latest scientific methods which will become a model of practices."
