Contract signed for construction of new biological treatment plant in Kato Korakiana-Agios Markos

CORFU. The project has a completion timeframe of 24 months and is funded by the Recovery and Resilience Fund.

The contract for the construction of a new biological treatment plant and the expansion of sewage networks in Kato Korakiana – Agios Markos was signed on Tuesday morning, 19 December, by the President of DIADEYADK Meropi Ydraiou and representatives of the contracting company Heron S.A.

The project, titled "Construction of Sewage System Kato Korakiana-Agios Markos," is funded by the Recovery and Resilience Fund with an initial budget of €11,274,577.40, while with the discount, the final contract amount is €10,284,028.

Ms. Ydraiou stated that this is a significant project that the local community has been awaiting for years to address serious issues with biological treatment.

"It is a very important project because in this area, especially in the tourist area of Ipsos, Agios Markos, and beyond, we have had many problems for many years regarding biological treatment, which posed a threat to the health and safety of residents, as well as the protection and enhancement of our natural environment, and also brought a bad reputation to these tourist areas," stated Ms. Ydraiou.

24 months

The project has a completion timeframe of 24 months, and is envisaged to be operated for three years by the contractor after its completion.

"The indications from our collaboration with HERON are excellent, and we are very pleased to be dealing with a reliable company that executes technically sound projects on schedule," added Ms. Ydraiou.

The representative of the contracting company stated that the project will start construction immediately, as the necessary pre-processing with the bureaucratic procedures has already been completed. It is worth noting that the same company has also constructed the town's biological treatment plant.

 

 

Kinopiastes

On Thursday, 21 December, the contract is expected to be signed for the construction of the project titled "Urgent Works on Kinopiastes Sewage System".

The contract will be signed by the President of DIADEYADK, Ms. Meropi Ydraiou, and the contractor company for the project, "Tedra Anonymous Technical Environmental Company (trading as Tedra)."

The project is being financed by the Recovery and Resilience Fund with an initial budget of €6,510,000, while with the discount, the final contract comes to €6,374,938.37.
