CORFU. The ΄Mantzaros΄ Philharmonic Youth Band will take the audience on a musical journey across Greece.
Mantzaros Philharmonic Society warmly invites the public to a special concert by its Youth Band, entitled "A Tour of Greece in One Concert"—a musical journey through the traditions and melodies of the Greek world. The concert will take place on Friday, 10 July 2026, at 9:00 p.m., at the Scout Hall (Faliraki).
Through a carefully curated programme, the young musicians of the Mantzaros Youth Band will perform well-known traditional melodies, dances, and musical themes from different regions of Greece, showcasing the richness of the country's cultural heritage. From the Ionian Islands and Epirus to Macedonia, Thrace, the Aegean Islands, and Crete—as well as Cyprus, Southern Italy (Magna Graecia), and Constantinople, all historic centres of Hellenism—the audience will have the opportunity to discover the distinctive musical identity of each region through specially crafted band arrangements.
The concert is the culmination of the systematic educational work carried out at the 'Mantzaros' Philharmonic Society, offering its young performers invaluable musical experiences while bringing audiences closer to the Greek musical tradition through the creative fusion of art music and folk music.
The concert features the following guest soloists:
- Kyriakos Gouventas (violin)
- Apostolos Valsamas (lute and oud)
- Panagiotis Telekoglou (ancient Greek lyre)
- Anastasia Tzilianou (barbitos and vocals)
- Konstantinos Christoforidis (Pontic lyre)
- Kostas Stravoravdis (davul)
Also appearing are 'Mantzaros' Philharmonic musicians Salvina Sueref and Alkinoi Kolla (vocals), together with the Corfu Kantada & Mandolinata, prepared by Apostolos Valsamas.
Admission is free.
The Youth Band will be conducted by the Mantzaros Philharmonic Society's Assistant Music Director, Spyros Rouvas.
