CORFU. The restrictions do not apply to the entire bay of Ipsos, but only to the designated sea area where the works for the new sewage project are being carried out. They remain in effect until July 7 or until the completion of the works.

Clarifications regarding the extent of the restrictions in effect in Ipsos, as the prohibition applies exclusively to the sea area defined by specific geographic coordinates and not to the entire bay.

By decision of Corfu Central Port Authority, from 30 June to 7 July, and in any case until the completion of the construction works of a technical sewage project, restrictive measures are in force in the designated maritime zone of Ipsos.

In this area, bathing is prohibited, as is the anchoring of ships and all types of vessels, the installation of anchors and mooring points, as well as mooring from fixed or movable points along the shoreline. In addition, the passage of ships, speedboats, fishing vessels, boats, and any other motorised or non-motorised floating craft is not permitted, and fishing is also prohibited.

The Port Authority emphasises that the restrictions apply only to the sea area enclosed by the coordinates specified in the relevant decision and not to the entire maritime area of Ipsos. Therefore, maritime activities in the wider area are not suspended, but only in the specific section where underwater works are taking place.

This clarification was deemed necessary because the original general headline of the publication created the impression that the prohibitions concerned the entire bay of Ipsos, causing concern among bathers and professionals in the area. Although the text clarified that the measures apply to the demarcated sea zone, we apologise for the misleading impression created by the original headline.

We thank readers who pointed out the exaggeration.
