CORFU. Following the appropriate assessment of intelligence in both cases, police operations established the suspects’ involvement in the trafficking of cocaine and heroin, respectively.

(Ionian Islands Regional Police Department) Four people were arrested yesterday, 4 October, in Corfu by officers from the Corfu Drugs Squad, in two separate cases involving the trafficking of drugs on the island.

In both cases, police acted on information that had been appropriately assessed, and subsequent police operations established the involvement of the suspects, respectively, in the trafficking of cocaine and heroin.

  • In the first case, in the early hours of yesterday morning (4 October), two 19-year-olds — a Greek national and a foreign national — were arrested in an area on the outskirts of Corfu Town. During the investigation, 350 grams of cocaine were found and seized.
  • In the second case, yesterday evening, a 31-year-old foreign national and a 28-year-old Greek woman were arrested in an area of South Corfu. Searches carried out on the suspects and at properties they maintain led to the discovery and seizure of a total of 280 grams of heroin.

As part of the preliminary investigations conducted by the Narcotics Department, one motorcycle was also seized as a means of transporting and trafficking drugs.

The four suspects were brought before the Corfu Public Prosecutor.
