CORFU. The 1st Primary School is participating in the Erasmus+ School Exchange Partnerships project.

These projects aim at interaction in terms of skills and experiences of teachers and students, as well as at the improvement of the system and policies of education in Europe. On the occasion of the holding of the Olympic Games in France in 2024, teachers and pupils of the 6th grade will visit and participate in activities with a similar school class in the city of Deauville in Normandy, France. French students and teachers will also visit Corfu.

The programme started in September 2020 and will be completed at the end of August 2022 with the collaboration between the 1st Primary School and the French Fracasse Elementary School in Deauville. During the programme, students will participate in sports activities in Corfu and Deauville, promoting the ideals of the Olympic Games.

In the framework of the implementation of the programme, two teachers of the 1st Primary School, Mrs. Lefki Siati and Mrs. Maria Georgiadou, visited the school and the city of Deauville, met with the teachers there, toured the school, saw the impressive school and sports infrastructure and prepared the visit of the Greek students in May.

For the same reason, from 19 to 22 October, a 7-member delegation from Deauville visited the Corfu school, including – among others – teachers and a representative of the Deauville Municipality. The purpose of the visit, which was a success, was to give the French guests a tour of the island and to visit sports facilities and monuments, in order to decide on the programme to be followed by their students during their stay in Corfu.

The French partners in the programme, delivered letters from their French classmates to the pupils of the 1st Primary School and had the opportunity to admire Achillion, the Archaeological Museum, the archaeological site of Mon Repos and Central Corfu villages, while they also toured the town centre. The French delegation expressed their enthusiasm for the warm reception.

The 1st Primary School would like to thank the parents of the 6th grade students for the traditional delicacies they prepared, as well as the Lazaris company for the gifts they offered and the hospitality.
