High fire risk on Saturday 26 July
CORFU. €300 fine for entering areas where access has been prohibited.
Due to the forecast of the Fire Risk Map issued by the General Secretariat for Civil Protection, for tomorrow, Saturday, July 26, which estimates a High fire risk for the Regional Unit of Corfu, the following measure has been imposed:
A prohibition on the passage, presence, and movement of persons and vehicles in the following areas, from 13:00 to 23:59:
a) Cedar Forest of Issos (Korission Sand Dunes), Forest of Agios Matthaios, Arkoudilas, and the Theofylaktos area of the Local Community of Pavliana, Municipality of South Corfu.
(b) Lazareto Island, Kombitsi, Agioi Deka, Stavros, and the area of Agios Panteleimon of the Local Community of Kato Garouna, Municipality of Central Corfu & Diapontia Islands.
(c) Porto Timoni, Municipality of North Corfu.
(d) Erimitis, and the islands of Panagia and Agios Nikolaos, Municipality of Paxos.
For each violation of the prohibition, an administrative fine of three hundred euros will be imposed.
The prohibition on the passage, presence, and movement of persons and vehicles does not apply to individuals who reside or work in the areas where the above prohibition is in effect, and only for the purpose of travelling to and from their residence or workplace. It also does not apply to persons traveling within the road network, subject to the possibility that traffic restrictions may also be imposed on parts of that network by the competent authorities, as applicable.
The competent authorities responsible for ensuring the enforcement of the Prohibition Decision and for issuing administrative fines are designated as:
(a) the Corfu Police Directorate,
(b) the Fire Department Command of the Corfu Prefecture, and
(c) the Corfu Forestry Service.
