CORFU. For the effective promotion of the app, the Chamber of Commerce is planning an awareness campaign aimed at both residents and visitors.

The Chamber of Commerce, as part of its effort to help address the longstanding traffic problem in the town centre, has promptly implemented the digital app “Corfu Parking,” which has been designed to facilitate parking and movement, contributing to the decongestion of the road network.

The app will be gradually upgraded and improved over the coming months, with the aim of providing increasingly accurate, useful, and comprehensive information to both residents and visitors. This initiative is being implemented in collaboration with the Technical Services of the Municipality of Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands and the Corfu Traffic Police.

This is a dynamic and modern tool that is continuously updated with real-time data and offers users immediate and useful information.

This new solution is expected to make a significant contribution to improving the quality of life, offering practical benefits to residents — both in the town centre and the surrounding areas — as well as to professionals and visitors to the island. It aims to noticeably reduce the time and cost of daily commutes in the town centre, supporting local economic development, while also laying the groundwork for a more organised, accessible, and prosperous town.

The app will provide real-time dynamic information about:

  • The locations of parking areas (municipal, free, and private).

  • Traffic conditions on the roads, using a colour code system (green – yellow – red).

  • The waiting time at the Lower Square car park.

  • Guidance for drivers to the selected parking location, with estimated arrival time.

  • Walking distance from each selected parking spot to the central point of the Square (Pentofanaro).

To effectively promote the app, the Chamber is planning an awareness campaign targeting both residents and island visitors.

The campaign will make use of contact points such as hotels, car rental offices, ports, ships, and other tourist facilities in order to boost the actual use of the app.

We sincerely thank the developer of the app, Nikos Koskinas, for kindly offering it free of charge, which played a key role in bringing this initiative to life.

The Chamber remains available for ongoing cooperation with all relevant authorities, with the aim of further developing and enhancing the application for the benefit of the local community.
