CORFU. Yet again this year, Nikiforou Theotoki Street, where the ΄Old΄ Philharmonic Society is housed, was packed to capacity with people who gathered to listen to the Adagio, The Mother’s Pain, and Amleto.
Every year on this day, a beloved tradition among Corfu residents and visitors is to gather outside the philharmonic halls and listen through the open windows to the final rehearsals of the iconic funeral marches for Good Friday and Easter Saturday.

Yet again this year, Nikiforou Theotoki Street, where the Corfu Philharmonic Society (Old)—the oldest philharmonic society in Corfu (founded in 1840), located in the heart of the old town—is housed, was packed to capacity with people who gathered to listen to the Adagio, The Mother’s Pain, and Amleto, and to get a ‘foretaste’ of what will follow over the next 24 hours leading up to the Resurrection.
