North Corfu: Serious sabotage to water supply tank for Pagi - Agios Georgios - Afionas
CORFU. An unauthorised closing of the valve at the water supply tank for Pagi – Agios Georgios – Afionas, carried out by outraged citizens following a temporary water supply closure for a few hours due to a technical fault.
The Municipality of North Corfu and the Water and Sewerage Company of North Corfu inform the public through a press release that, unfortunately, due to acts of sabotage that occurred in the past 24 hours in the area of Pagi, there has been a serious disruption in the water supply network.
An unauthorised closing of the valve at the water supply tank for Pagi – Agios Georgios – Afionas, carried out by outraged citizens following a temporary water supply closure for a few hours due to a technical fault. Subsequently, sabotage was discovered at the tank’s pump, which resulted in water supply issues in the communities of Agios Georgios, Pagi and Afionas.
The North Corfu DEYA Technical Service is already on site and is making every possible effort to repair the damage as quickly as possible.
Such actions not only fail to contribute to solving problems but, on the contrary, worsen the situation and harm the common good.
The Municipality reserves the right to take all legal action to investigate the incidents and assign responsibility, with the sole aim of protecting public property and ensuring the smooth operation of public infrastructure.
It is worth noting that these acts of sabotage in the specific area add to previous incidents in recent times, which include significant damage to municipal construction equipment—specifically, a tracked vehicle performing cleaning and maintenance work on the beach of Agios Georgios Pagon, an attempted arson of a grader working on the Aspiotades – Agios Georgios Pagon road (putting a worker’s life at risk), and vandalism of an excavator.
