CORFU. Authorities report that, to safely carry out the work — including removing branches tangled in power lines — a temporary power outage is likely in the surrounding area within the next hour.
A large tree fell on Friday morning on the main road connecting Roda and Karousades in North Corfu following recent bad weather. The fall caused significant damage, toppling an electricity pole and leaving live wires scattered across the roadway.
Traffic on the main road was immediately halted for safety reasons. Fire department units and a team from the North Corfu Civil Protection Service immediately rushed to the scene, coordinating the initial response and ensuring the temporary restoration of traffic.
