Fire crews dispatched to Corfu Port following reports of smoke on boat

CORFU. The Fire Service responded immediately at the cruise ship pier — the problem was traced to a battery.
A brief emergency at Corfu Port on Thursday evening ended safely after smoke was spotted coming from a vessel docked at the cruise ship terminal.
Authorities determined that the incident was caused by a short circuit in the vessel's battery, which led to the release of smoke.
Thanks to the rapid response of the Fire Service, the issue was dealt with immediately and prevented from developing into a more serious incident. No injuries were reported, and no material damage was recorded apart from damage to the battery's electrical system.
