CORFU. Emergency restrictions imposed by the Corfu Central Port Authority will be in force in the waters off Ipsos from Tuesday, June 30, until July 7, or until the completion of the works. In addition to a ban on swimming, vessel transit, boat anchoring, and fishing are also prohibited.

Corfu Central Port Authority has imposed a temporary ban on all activities in the sea area off Ipsos to ensure the safe execution of ongoing construction works for a sewerage infrastructure project.

By decision of the Central Port Commander of Corfu, the restrictions will be in force from June 30 to July 7, and, if necessary, will remain in effect until the works are fully completed.

During this period, swimming is prohibited within the designated marine zone off Ipsos. The anchoring of any type of ship or boat is also prohibited, as is the placement of anchors or moorings and the mooring of vessels to either fixed or temporary points along the shoreline.

In addition, the passage of ships, speedboats, fishing vessels, dinghies, and all other powered or non-powered watercraft through the area is prohibited. Fishing is also banned.

The restricted zone has been defined by specific geographic coordinates included in the Port Authority's decision and covers the stretch of sea where underwater works are being carried out as part of the new sewerage project.

The Port Authority urges swimmers, maritime professionals, fishermen, and vessel operators to comply with the restrictions, noting that anyone who violates them may face administrative penalties under the Greek Code of Public Maritime Law, in addition to any applicable civil or criminal liability.
