Defibrillator in Paleokastritsa – Important life-saving initiative
CORFU. Following first aid training, the local business community took the initiative to purchase an automated external defibrillator and other medical equipment to help ensure the safety of both residents and visitors.
The idea was born during a first aid training session attended by two local business people. Today, in accordance with current legislation, many business owners have already been trained in CPR and in the use of a defibrillator. This is particularly important for the area, as it welcomes a large number of tourists as well as local residents every day.
The idea became a reality. The other business owners responded immediately, and through a collective effort, a complete first aid package was purchased to help deal with critical and life-threatening situations.
The equipment acquired includes:
- Automated External Defibrillator (AED): Suitable for use on both adults and children.
- Special outdoor cabinet: For the safe storage of the defibrillator and immediate access when needed.
- Ambu resuscitation bag.
- Two Anapen auto-injectors: For the treatment of severe allergic reactions, because in such situations every second counts.

The next step will be ensuring certified knowledge for everyone. In the near future, certified CPR/AED training will be provided for the correct use of the defibrillator. The training will be available to any of the participants who wish to take part and will be delivered by the specialised training centre Corfu Total Services Training RTI, which was also the starting point for this wonderful initiative.
