Corfu ‘Pantokrator’ Cultural and Mutual Support Association of the Worldwide Sinies Community warmly invites you to the cultural events it is organising on Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 August — a two-day tribute dedicated to highlighting, preserving and commemorating the history of Old Sinies.
Programme of Events
Saturday 8 August (21:00)
Courtyard of the Church of All Saints, Nissaki (Municipality of North Corfu)
Presentation and screening about Old Sinies, including a historical overview and detailed information on the efforts to highlight and preserve the community’s churches and monuments.
Sunday 9 August
09:30: Celebration of the Divine Liturgy with the blessing of bread at the restored historic Church of Saint Theodore the Commander (16th century) in Old Sinies.
A memorial prayer will follow at the church cemetery for the repose of the souls of our worthy Sinies ancestors, the “beacon bearers” (Fryktori).
At the same time, a prayer will be offered for the health, strength and vigilance of us all, with the aim of completing the restoration and preservation of the village’s third historic church, the Church of Saint George the Trophy-Bearer.
