‘Leto’ hits the island – Fallen trees and ferry boats not sailing

Fire Service
The Fire Service had to cut up 7 fallen trees early this morning in several areas including Poulades, Kato Garouna, Kompitsi and even in the centre near Maraslion.
There is a serious problem at the Messonghi junction where the Fire Service has been trying over the last two days to pump out the water that has flooded the area.
Port Authority
Ferry services between Corfu and Igoumenitsa have been prohibited, with only the closed ferry boats sailing. There are also no ferry services between Lefkimmi and Paxos.
