Forklift falls into sea and hits cruise ship

CORFU. The accident occurred at Corfu Port.
In the early hours of Saturday, August 16, a forklift fell into the cruise ship docking area at the New Port.
Coast Guard officials were informed and arrived at the scene, where they located the 59-year-old driver of the vehicle. He told the officials that the forklift had started moving on its own while it was on the pier and ended up in the sea. According to the Port Authority, the 59-year-old stated that he had parked it temporarily.
During its fall, it came into contact with the right stern section of the cruise ship, causing two superficial scratches.
The lifting machine was recovered by a private crane vehicle with the assistance of a private diver at the port of Corfu.
A preliminary investigation is being conducted by Corfu Central Port Authority, while no marine pollution was caused by the incident.
