171 driving offences in the Ionian Islands

CORFU. 7 arrests were made.
Between 07:00 and 13:00 on Wednesday 23 August, police in the Ionian Islands checked 342 vehicles and 388 individuals, leading to 7 arrests - 4 in Corfu, 2 in Zakynthos and 1 in Lefkada - for the following offences:
- 3 for illegal residency
- 1 for assault on an employee
- 2 for driving without a licence
- 1 catering establishment for lack of proper health certificates
There were 171 driving offences, including the following:
- 27 speeding
- 4 not wearing seat belts
- 33 not wearing crash helmet
- 3 using mobile phone whilst driving
- 5 without driving licences
- 2 with uninsured vehicle
- 3 driving on the wrong side of the road
- 1 without MOT
plus 93 other violations.
21 vehicles were immobilised for driving without a licence, not wearing crash helmets, not having MOT and being uninsured.
