Restoration work at Mouragia may determine future traffic arrangements in Corfu Town

CORFU. The restoration works for the subsidence at Mouragia may determine the future flow of traffic in the town. But not this August...
A remark made by Mayor Stefanos Poulimenos may signal sweeping changes to the town’s traffic landscape, at least within its historic centre. A detailed reference to the issue that has arisen at Mouragia was made during the presentation of the traffic regulations for the peak tourist season, which begins today.
If any restrictions are to be enforced, they will be announced on a case-by-case basis by the Traffic Police. Around the town centre, 520 free parking spaces are available. Specifically: 250 spaces at “Lyriko,” 60 behind the vocational high schools (EPAL) in Mantouki, 60 at the Prison park, and 150 inside the port area, behind the Customs Office.
As for halting traffic at Mouragia, it’s unlikely that any works will begin during August. Therefore, whatever is planned there—changes that could affect traffic across the entire town—is being postponed to a more opportune time.
Special mention was made during the presentation of the Corfu Park App, developed and donated by Nikos Katsaros to the Chamber of Commerce, which in turn is offering it to drivers, both locals and visitors. Through the app, users can check real-time availability at organised parking areas, helping to reduce unnecessary traffic congestion caused by drivers searching for parking.
