CORFU. The materials received are clean, separated by category, and stored in construction bags.

(Central Corfu Municipality) The results of the cooperation between the Municipality’s Cleaning Department and the volunteer Green Corners (Liapades, Gouvia, Giannades, Pelekas, and Spartylas) are encouraging. Following coordination with the coordinators of the Green Corners, the Municipal Service transports and deposits the different categories of recyclable materials at the Recycling Materials Sorting Center in Temploni.

The materials received are clean, separated by category, and stored in construction bags. Since the start of the collaboration (January 2026), more than 160 construction bags of recyclable materials (1 m³ each) have been collected and transported.

The largest share of recycled materials consists of PET plastic, specifically PET plastic bottles. This is followed, in order, by paper and cardboard, other types of recyclable plastics, glass, aluminum, and metal.

The material received from the volunteer Green Corners, as well as from the Municipal Green Point, is completely clean and separated by category. This aims to educate the public about acceptable recyclable materials and to protect the employees of the Recycling Materials Sorting Centre, where inspections are carried out by hand.

A reminder:

• Whatever we deposit at the Municipal Green Point and the volunteer Green Corners must be exactly the same material that we deposit in the Blue and Yellow bins of the network.
• Glass is collected in the blue bell-shaped containers.
• The disposal of mixed waste in recycling bins is prohibited.
• The placement of bulky items, demolition materials, and mattresses in public spaces is prohibited.

Information regarding recyclable material categories can be found on the Municipality’s website

Bulky items and household mattresses can either be transported to the Municipal Green Point (Eptanisos Ave., Tria Gefyria) or you may submit a request by calling 26610 24444.

We kindly ask for the cooperation of all residents, as maintaining a respectable image of the island is a responsibility we all share.
