Corfu Food & Wine Festival: the essence of hospitality
CORFU. Friday 15 May at the Scout Hall at Faliraki.
The 8th Corfu Food & Wine Festival continues its journey in 2026 through three thematic pillars that highlight gastronomy as an experience of culture, memory, sustainability, and human connection: Hearth, Circle, and Roots.
Since 2020, the festival has followed a different path, focusing not on mass attendance but on the true essence of hospitality and on creating a deeper connection with Corfu through activities that bring together residents, visitors, communities, institutions, and different generations.
As part of the thematic section “Circle,” the 8th Corfu Food & Wine Festival is organising an open experiential event dedicated to the circular economy, sustainable food management, and the reduction of food waste.
The event will take place on Friday, 15 May 2026, at Faliraki – Scout Hall, in collaboration with the Municipality of Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands, within the framework of the European CIRCUS project of the Interreg IPA ADRION programme. It is primarily addressed to children, pupils, and families of Corfu.
The Corfu Chefs’ Club will present the process of making jam and chutney, showing children how fruits and vegetables that are often discarded can be transformed into new flavours and creative recipes. At the same time, there will be a composting presentation demonstrating how organic waste returns to the soil as natural fertiliser.
A local olive oil producer will also participate in the event, presenting how production by-products are reused as natural fertilizer in the olive grove, putting into practice the idea that nothing goes to waste.
The Ionian Islands Regional Agri-Food Partnership will participate with informative and interactive activities centered around the principles of Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and will also organise a special game for children, reinforcing through hands-on experience the message of responsible consumption and environmental protection.
