΄Lighthouse of Life΄ 7th Mamathon a success
CORFU. A day of honour, support and remembrance for all mothers and for every woman who strives each day to stand strong through life΄s challenges.
Once again this year, on Sunday, May 11th, the 'Lighthouse of Life' (Faros Zois) Marathon took place in the Upper Square, dedicated to mothers all around the world, with both young and old in attendance.
The 'Mamathon' has become a tradition since the founding of the Association, celebrated in a unique way on Mother's Day.
A day of honour, support and remembrance for all mothers and for every woman who strives each day to stand strong through life’s challenges.
It is a symbolic walk together with children, spouses, friends and parents. During the event, there was also an information session, and for those interested, a saliva sampling was offered to help grow the Bone Marrow Donor Registry 'Vision of Hope'.
It is a process as painless as the act of donating itself—if someone is fortunate enough to be a match, they can offer a second chance at life to a child or to a person who literally depends on a volunteer donor. The message the organisers wish to convey with this initiative is:
'Just as a mother gives life, so too does the volunteer donor give hope to life.'
The event concluded with Danai and Nikolas (Anemoskorpismata), who entertained and energised our young friends, along with treats and music by George Karipidis (DJ George Karipidis).
